I’ve already mentioned Shonen Knife’s insistence upon spreading ho-ho-holiday cheer to every good, little girl and boy this year with their new Christmas single; Sweet Christmas. Well, you all must have dodged the naughty list because they’re giving part of the new single away for free.

Pause & Play, a site that boasts to be “the definitive place for CD-release date,” reported the free download of Shonen Knife’s “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” cover on its Twitter page a few days ago. If you haven’t heard it yet, get to it.

Shonen Knife’s “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” is great fodder for a Yuletide get-together or a holiday mix tape (CD, playlist, whatever), but it pales in comparison to the single’s title track. But hey! I’m not looking a gift mp3 in the mouth. If Shonen Knife wants to make the holidays a sweeter with a little ear candy, I say Merry Christmas to all and to all a good knife!
