Japanese “Ghostbusters” Revives Ray Park Jr.’s Classic Theme

Japanese Ghostbusters

To say that the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot starring an all-female re-cast of the titular, proton pack-equipped busters of the ‘80s has been divisive would be putting it mildly. Hell, the movie isn’t even out yet and its trailer is being haunted by a multitude of downvotes on YouTube. According to Fortune, the Ghostbusters trailer is the only movie trailer to appear on YouTube’s most disliked list which largely contains music videos that have failed to stand the test of time or just ear-wormed the bejeezus out of us from the get go.

By comparison, Sony Pictures Japan’s release of the “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker, Jr. covered by four female Japanese comedians is doing pretty well! With 509,384 total YouTube views (at the time of writing this article) the music video starring Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Yamasaki has a scant 581 thumbs down votes. In fact, the video remake is just under 5,000 thumbs up votes! I guess you can say this music video cover ain’t afraid of no (down) votes.
