Lady Gaga Confirmed for Video Music Aid Japan
MTV Japan reports that Pop Idol Lady Gaga is confirmed to play a charity show benefitting victims of the Tohoku Earthquake and tsunami (Nihongaku caught word from Billboard which mercifully translated the MTV report to English). MTV will hold the charity event, called “Video Music Aid Japan,” instead of their annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan. Japanese Pop Group AKB48, a troupe comprising 56 members sectioned off into pop idol squads (no, seriously) will host the event on June 25.
Like many of her contemporaries, Lady Gaga has been extremely active in showing support for Japan. She contributed “Born This Way” to the Songs For Japan benefit album currently available on iTunes. Lady Gaga is also selling wristbands on which “Pray For Japan” is printed in English and Japanese for $5 via her online store.
