Mobile Suit Gundam Soundtracks Head to Streaming Platforms

Images of various Gundam soundtrack album covers.

The Mobile Suit Gundam Meta series spans more than 40 years of anime television series, original video animation releases and theatrical movies. Whether you’re a diehard who’s been with the franchise since it’s Japanese television release in 1979 or if you cut your teeth on Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network’s Toonami anime block in the early 2000s, fans can agree that contained within all that anime are some straight bangers. You can even find a few Gundam songs among the bonus tracks in the early days of Nihongaku Radio.

Well good news, Gundam Fans! Sunrise, the animation studio behind Gundam and a long list of anime greats, announced that more than 1,000 Gundam songs are making their way to streaming platforms in August and September.

Soundtracks from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Mobile Suit Gundam Twilight AXIS, and Mobile Suit Gundam NT are already available. Soundtracks from Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, and Gundam 00 will be released on August 21. And buckle up for September, because that’s when we’ll see soundtracks from G Gundam, Gundam X, Gundam Wing, Gundam AGE, Iron-Blooded Orphans, Gundam Build Divers, and Gundam Thunderbolt.

A quick tour of Spotify allowed me to verify that those early August Mobile Suit Gundam soundtracks are indeed there, but not as part of a comprehensive Gundam playlist. For now, you’re going to have to search for the soundtracks and individually. Luckily, Gundamnews.org has you covered with details on each soundtrack.

And if you need more Japanese anime soundtrack goodness, Sunrise also announced more than 200 songs from the Code Geass anime are available to stream right now! Code Geass may not be able to hold a candle to the sheer volume of awesome tracks from the Gundam franchise, but it delivers with a few of its openings and endings. The first Code Geass opening, “Colors’ by Flow, somehow manages to set the tone of the show with a bouncy, danceable beat.
